Designing Effective Maps

The online offering (or pandemic offering) of this course consists of 7 assignments (75%) + 1 final exam (25%). The course material is not hard to follow, which describes some basics of map making, and gis system. The assignments are not hard to follow, and they are provide several instruction videos to do.

These notes cover the fundamentals of cartography and map design. Topics include the history of cartography, geographic coordinates and datums, map projections (equal area, conformal, UTM), map accuracy and distortion, principles of cartographic abstraction, mapping quantitative data, choropleth maps, and data classification methods.
